Project Scientist Positions 


 

Openings are anticipated throughout the year in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the University of California, Irvine for non-tenured, academic term appointments in the Project Scientist series (Assistant, Associate and/or full Project Scientist). These Ph.D.-level research positions are under the sponsorship of the faculty members listed below.  Salaries for the Project Scientist Series are competitive and commensurate with experience, starting at $49,100 per year.

Diane O'Dowd Regulation of excitability and synaptic transmission in the central nervous system
Charles Ribak Cellular mechanisms of epilepsy and adult neurogenesis
Richard Robertson Developmental neurobiology of cerebral cortex
Martin Smith Synapse formation, neuronal differentiation, ion transporters and excitability
Ivan Soltesz Electrophysiology, computational modeling and neuroanatomy of hippocampal interneurons: plasticity, febrile seizures and post-traumatic epilepsy
Oswald Steward Genetic modulation of regeneration, synapse growth and plasticity
Xiangmin Xu Organization and function of local inhibitory cortical circuits (laser photostimulation, in vivo optical imaging, transgenic mice)
