Acoustics, Perception and Reproduction of Music

Vast advances have been made in the understanding of how sounds are perceived and processed by our hearing system. At the forefront of this interdisciplinary field -- where physics, biology, psychology and audio engineering come together -- we are now able to construct bionic ears that inject signals directly into neural pathways, and are beginning to understand the parameters that make a particular sound unique. This talk will provide an insight into the current state of the art for some key topics in this area.
