Public Folder Replacement

SharePoint will eventually be replacing Public Folders which are a feature within Exchange. Public Folders are not as flexible and useful for exchanging information as SharePoint. Because Public Folders have been marked for "end of life" by Microsoft we expect to begin to transition users off of these folders beginning in 2008. Long term use will likely end in 2010.

UC Irvine Health Email Services - File Sharing

UC Irvine Health Information Services provides alternate methods of file sharing for users beyond standard file servers. We offer SharePoint pages to departments, individuals and research groups so that they may exchange information in a manner that is efficient and robust. Recovering Deleted Items Policy

UC Irvine Health Information Services will not recover deleted Sharepoint items unless requested by the department chair or senior manager for the group.  Recovery of data requires extensive effort that takes days or weeks.  In some cases the entire SharePoint database must be recovered, which is non-trivial is the size of the database is large.
