Dr. Zamorano is a Fellowship-trained orthopaedic
traumatologist specializing in acute and delayed care
of fractures. His is the Director of Orthopaedic Trauma
at UC Irvine.
Dr. Zamorano specializes in acute fracture care. His
special interest is in pelvic and acetabular fracture
reconstruction. He also has special training in minimally
invasive fracture management.
Dr. Zamorano has been actively involved in both clinical
and biomechanical research. He currently is working
on a novel pelvic fracture model that will help develop
innovative surgical techniques and implants.
Dr. Zamorano graduated with a bachelor’s degree
in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University
of California, Los Angeles. He received his medical
degree in from the University of Southern California
School of Medicine, Los Angeles. He also completed his
internship and an orthopaedic surgery residency program,
at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Zamorano subsequently completed an orthopaedic
trauma fellowship at the University of Texas at Houston,
Hermann Hospital, Texas Medical Center. This highly
specialized fellowship training program prepared Dr.
Zamorano in the management of advanced techniques of
fracture, fixation, treatment of bone infections, surgical
reconstruction, complete care of the multiply injured
patient, and comprehensive care of the musculoskeletal
system.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Zamorano extended
his training in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction
under the tutelage of Dr. Joel Matta at Good Samaritan
Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Matta is recongnized
internationally as one of the foremost authorities on
pelvis and acetubulum reconstruction. This additional
training proved to be invaluable to Dr. Zamorano’s
development as an orthopaedic traumatologist.
