UCI College of Medicine is located in Orange County, one of the nation’s most attractive regions. Located between Los Angeles and San Diego counties, Orange County is a land of intense natural beauty and spectacular scenic contrast, from the colorful marine and beach life along the coastline of its western border to the snowcapped mountains two hours inland.

Orange County offers the cultural and economic resources of an urban environment together with the recreational advantages and the mild, dry climate of Southern California. Within the past two decades, Orange County has received an influx of multi-national businesses and industries that provide solid support for the community and afford many employment opportunities.

Within a few miles of the campus and medical center are the Orange County Center for the Performing Arts, major department stores, branches of world-renowned boutiques, dozens of outstanding restaurants (many offering international cuisine), major hotels, and the John Wayne Airport.

Housing in Orange County is in great demand and rents are relatively high. The beach communities; (i.e. Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Balboa Island, Corona del Mar, and Huntington Beach) tend to be more expensive. Inland cities such as Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Orange, Tustin, Anaheim and Garden Grove offer more affordable accommodations. The Belmont Shores area of Long Beach and Seal Beach are also selected by residents for living close to the Pacific.
