PROGRAM FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Director’s Fund
$100,000-$5,000

Director’s funds allow the program director to devote resources to the areas of greatest need and to capitalize on unforeseen opportunities to significantly enhance patient care, education and research.

Geriatric Fellowships
$70,000-$25,000

Fellowships allow new physicians to be trained in geriatric medicine to improve patient care for older adults throughout their medical careers.

Senior Health Programs
$100,000-$5,000

Several programs have been established to enhance patient care and the education of medical students. The Health Assessment Program for Seniors and the Student-Senior Partner Program are excellent examples. These programs are sustained by on-going annual support.

Faculty Chairs
$1,000,000-$500,000

Endowed chairs for faculty allow UC Irvine to recruit the very best faculty to the program by providing a guaranteed source of annual support of their work. Faculty deliver high quality patient care, conduct world-class research and educate tomorrow’s geriatricians. The impact and reputation of any program rests on the quality of the faculty and national competition is fierce.

Geriatric Research Funds
$100,000-$10,000

Research funds allow faculty to conduct innovative studies that will ultimately improve patient care and the quality of life for seniors. Their findings provide evidence to improve patient care not only for our patients but patients all over the world.

Medical Education Funds
$200,000-$10,000

Training medical students to understand and address the unique needs of older adults, regardless of their eventual specialization, is imperative. All physicians are faced with the aging of their patients and can be better educated to meet their needs.
