CLINICAL TRIALS
If you have had a stroke and still have some weakness you may wish to consider being a part of one of UCI Medical Center's studies.
- In this study, certain patients who are more than 3 months after a stroke will receive brain stimulation in hopes of improving hand movement, or a placebo stimulation. Either way, all patients will also receive 5 weeks of occupational (hand) therapy. Patients will also receive an MRI scan of the brain. If you are interested, or have questions, please call Dr. Steven C. Cramer, UC Irvine Department of Neurology (714) 456-6876.
- In this study, certain patients who had a stroke less than 48 hours ago will be given two growth factors that are currently approved for treatment of other non-stroke diseases. Treatment will last over 9 days. Patients will also receive a MRI scan of the brain. If you are interested or have questions, please call Dr. Steven C. Cramer, UC Irvine Department of Neurology at (714) 456-6876

You might be eligible if you had a stroke that affected your right arm and still have some right-hand weakness. The study involves exercising the hand for about 20 hours over a 3 to 4 week period. Careful testing and a brain MRI scan are also done in the weeks before, and the weeks after, this hand therapy. All session will be in Irvine at the University of California campus. If interested please call Dr. Steven C. Cramer at (949) 824-6032. Ask about the Robotic Therapy Study.
